2015-2016 Parish Goals:

The Vestry of St. Peter’s Episcopal Parish and The Rev. Edmund Harris have adopted the following goals for their mutual ministry. These goals were approved at the Vestry meeting on June 28th, 2015.  All parties are in agreement that these goals are for the mutual work of the
Vestry, congregation, and priest, and that they are attainable and measurable.

Goal 1: ​ Develop and implement a plan for inviting, welcoming, and incorporating newcomers and existing members. 

Actions:

  • Recruit a St. Peter’s Welcome Team composed of members of the Vestry and Congregation to work with the Priest in Charge to review current welcoming practices, identify gaps and barriers, and create and implement a comprehensive plan by January 1, 2016 for inviting, welcoming, and incorporating newcomers and existing members.  

  • Hire a Communications Director and Administrator. 

  • Launch a new webpage.

  • Install welcome signs on the main streets near St. Peter’s.

Goal 2: ​ Deepen opportunities for faith formation for all ages in Worship and Sunday school.

Actions:

  • Invite members, especially children, to participate actively in worship as acolytes, readers, ushers, altar guild members, oblation bearers, and healing ministers, and equip them for these ministries.  

  • Try a new Sunday morning schedule that will enable us to set aside time for developing Sunday school and Worship. 

    •  For a trial period, beginning September 13th, Sunday school for all ages will begin at 9:30, followed by Worship as a multi-generational community at 10:30, followed by Hospitality at 11:30. 

  • Initiate weekly Bible study and continue monthly Theology Pub.

Goal 3: ​Invite and equip the congregation to share its story.

Actions:

  • Recruit a St. Peter’s Story Team composed of members of the Vestry and Congregation to work with Priest in Charge to enable the Congregation to share its unique story, both internally as well as beyond parish walls.   

    • Conduct and film interviews with active members of the congregation for sharing on the church website.

    • Create a short film about St. Peter’s for sharing on website and other venues, as well as within the congregation.
